KingCast and Mortgage Movies See Kshama Sawant Stand in Solidarity on Suing MERS and Fighting Bank and Mortgage Industry Abuse in the Fight Against Homelessness.

Seattle (Not AP) -- Above, a relevant Seattle City Council video. Stay tuned for more stills and a movie by Monday afternoon.

In a stirring presentation yesterday Seattle City Councilor Kshama Sawant expressed solidarity with long-term housing activist Karen Pooley in recognizing that unlawful foreclosures are a major link to homelessness and to the recent foreclosure suicide in Wenachee. Part of the solution lies in supporting King County in suing Mortgage Electronic Registration Services (MERS) a tool of the banks and mortgage servicers that has allowed them to move property without paying into the County coffers at the Recorder of Deeds.

Millions are lost monthly, and locally Multnomah County just settled with MERS for $9M over this issue, and that was actually a lowball settlement. Learn more about that lawsuit and how Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson is not only adversarial to homeowner attorneys, but is passing the buck on the entire issue here

Moreover, City Council continues to ignore this issue even though it parallels the observations of the City's own hired expert and could obviously fund the $10M that the City is seeking to spend on the homeless epidemic: Ms. Pooley and many of us were responsible for bringing Marie McDonnell to town after City Council refused to bring their own expert to present her findings in 2015. I have run videos of Councilor Sawant, for free, ever since I met her at the old Bill's Off Broadway as she was launching her campaign that nobody said she could win. See Counterpunch, 2013, and see those videos here. Well once again she -- and we -- can win this battle too:

"The other candidates take money from large corporate sponsors, but I don't," said Sawant yesterday from the City Hall event room at the historic People's Assembly.

Perfect. That makes her and Councilor Lisa Herbold the Councilors to support in holding the banks and the mortgage industry accountable as I explained in our breakout group, appropriately enough at Section 8.
"Little did I know how systemic this problem was when I was a Title Insurance Producer 10-15 years ago... that's why I attended Occupy Wall Street and spoke at Occupy Boston. It's the same issue, mortgage-backed securities and fraud."

Councilor Sawant was present at many of our rallies as Councilor Licata point blank stated that "what these banks are doing, is criminal." Watch at 0:35 into this video.

She was also present at the Underwater and Foreclosure Forum conceived by me, paralegal Michelle Darnell and SAFE two years ago in honor of the last known foreclosure suicide victim Phyllis Walsh.

Support Sawant and all of us at the Washington Housing Justice Network in moving King County and the City of Seattle to sue Mortgage Electronic Registration Services (MERS) in 2016. If there is no movement in this direction I will personally be working with others to draft a taxpayer derivative lawsuit but none of that should be necessary given the commitment from Sawant and the power of the people.

Note:  Please share this post and the forthcoming video. We need to be certain that Sawant has the backing she needs in order to forward the Agenda: To have City Council and the King County Recorder of Deeds sue MERS and to get rid of the Deed of Trust Act, which is Unconstitutional in and of itself as noted by Attorney Scott Stafne:

Nationstar Servicing Nailed by Pro Se Mom in Federal Dual Tracking Summary Judgment in Martha Brunzos v. Nationstar 15-CV-00558.

Here is your back story. New video coming by Thursday.

As Pat McEnroe reminded us from the broadcast booth at the Australian Open last week:
"Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth."

Former RI State Senator Bethany Moura and I are both Mike Tyson fans. I don't know if Nationstar boss man Jay Bray is as well, but I do know he needs to intervene and make this right. Read the Motion for Summary Judgment for more details and have a nice day.

Nationstar Servicing Nailed by Pro Se Mom in Federal Dual Tracking Summary Judgment 15-CV-00558 by Christopher King

Ms. Brunzos paid according to the representation made by Nationstar but they foreclosed on her on or about 16 September, 2015 in complete contravention
of their representation....
because they were actively DUAL TRACKING.
